crab fishing boats arrive

I noticed tonight while shooting down at the harbor that several crab boats were coming in this evening with their catch. I didn’t see any actual crab, but I know that it’s Dungeness crab season here at the moment, it started back in November although was delayed several weeks because fisherman and distributors apparently couldn’t agree on a price. Glad they got that sorted out.

I saw quite 3 or 4 boats come in this evening and one came in while I wasn’t paying attention, you can see the light trails from it’s bright lights on this shot of the harbor. Surprised me because I jumped back in the car to wait for the 4 minute exposure to do it’s thing. It was too cold and I wasn’t dressed warmly enough to stand out there waiting. 4 minutes sounds short, but it’s a long time when you are cold. Anyhow, kinda cool shot I thought. I’m still getting to know my new camera, but this is a step in the right direction.

Adam – really dig how the lighthouse/fog horn has illuminated the whitewater beyond the outer break wall …. might be cool next time you’re down to shoot from where the North Break wall hits the point back to HMB to get a different take on that same shot

Thanks Oli. Great idea by the way. I’ll have to run out there when I have some more time. I was rushing and wanted to get back to the gumbo shindig. :)
