crissy field night time

Some last minute Christmas shopping in the neighborhood (Sports Basement) got me this 25 minute exposure in 42 degree San Francisco Bay Area. If you don’t live here or have never been to SF, you have no idea how cold 42 degrees here. I haven’t figured out if that’s because people dress like it’s 70 degrees even in the middle of winter or if it’s just cold. I think it’s a bit of both.

Anyhow, this is a view of Crissy Field, former military airstrip turned park, esplanade and multi-purpose area. In the day time you’ll see any number of cyclists, runners, people on a stroll, families, beach goers, (there’s a beach on the other side of those trees), windsurfers, kiteboarders, paddlers, swimmers, herons, gulls and the occasional seal. It’s a busy, but extremely well kept San Francisco gem.

At night, when things go dark it’s cold, quiet and aside from the occasional cyclist, errant roller blader outfitted with glow sticks and one crazy photographer bundled head to toe, there’s not much to see. :)

If you stick around long enough on a cold clear night, you’ll get a glimpse of a view like this one above and a well lit Golden Gate bridge.
